| Mapping of Microfinance Sector for Access to Financial Services Project |
The project carries out a mapping of the existing microfinance sector in Nepal . This includes – microfinance development banks, regional and rural development banks, financial cooperatives, and financial NGOs. The project conducts survey in all 75 districts of Nepal covering a full list of 6000 institutions. One of the salient features of this survey is to locate the microfinance institutions using GPS device. The outputs of this project are
• Financial information on the various types of microfinance institutions in Nepal
• Digitized interactive GIS interface and database
• Printed copies of district wise topographic maps with information on the MFIs
• Detailed technical report
The result of the project is for use by Nepal Rastra Bank to finalize the Microfinance Policy and the design of new legal/ regulatory and supervisory framework for the microfinance sector.
TMS is the implementing agency of the project. Main services provided: overall project management and contract execution, survey of microfinance sector, creation of census frame and database, creation of interactive GIS interface and database, maps printing, and development of technical report. |
