Traffic Survey for Data Collection Survey on the Sindhuli Road Capacity Enhancement in Nepal 

The project has been commissioned by Japan International Cooperation Agency to conduct Data Collection Survey on Sindhuli Road Capacity Enhancement in Nepal. One of the scopes of the survey is the conduct of the Traffic Surveys. The purpose of this project are:

1.       To clarify the traffic characteristics of the major western logistics route.

2.       To clarify the traffic volume and the origin and destination of Sections II and Section III.

3.       To clarify the traffic volume from India to Sindhuli Road.

4.       To clarify the characteristics of the traffic to Kathmandu by routes other than via Birgunj.

5.       To clarify the traffic characteristics of traffic to the northeast area

The scope of the consulting services included the following survey and works, including the collection of relevant data and the obtaining of all approvals/permits for conducting the surveys.

 a)       Traffic count survey – The traffic count survey was carried out at four survey stations.

b)       Traffic volume count by direction (Intersection) – The traffic volume count survey by direction was carried out at one station at the Sindhuli Road intersection.

c)       Roadside Origin – Destination (OD) Interview survey – The roadside OD interview survey was carried out at four stations

d)       Data processing - The collected data was compiled and submitted in the table format (MS-Excel).

e)       Reporting and documentation – All the report was submitted in the format of hardcopy and softcopy (MS-Excel, PDF) with traffic counts survey data, roadside survey data and a photo album of the survey.
